Learn about some of our favorite solar energy projects and how we saved our client's money.

King Residence - Rancho Santa Fe, California

This project was impressive due to the homeowners desires for the installation to be as low-profile and as out of sight as possible. It required a 350 foot trench through well-manicured grass and around gas, sewer, electrical, and water utility lines.

Projects like these can be more expensive than a typical roof mount due to the extra labor and materials. This project, utilizing the most efficient solar panels in the world - the SunPower x22 360-watt AC module - cost around $37,500 after government incentives. It included 48 SunPower 360s for a total project size of 17.4 kWdc and the system will produce about 23,500 Kwhs annually. This will save the homeowners approximately $750 a month on their electric bill, coming to a four-year payback on the entire system.

This installation took one work week, with 3 days dedicating to digging and concrete and 2 days for the electrical work.

Auto Gallery Mitsubishi -  Corona, California.

Cosmic Solar to the rescue! We designed a 546 panel commercial solar system utilizing SunPower's Helix ballasted roof-mounted system. This 180 kWdc solar system was installed in late 2016 and now generates over 285 megawatts of power each year. (A megawatt is equal to one million watts... enough to power hundreds of homes each year!)

The price of this solar project was about $325,000 after accounting for the federal tax credit incentive and will save the customer millions of dollars over the course of 25 years. The savings will grow as the cost of power continues to climb over the next few decades at a significant clip.

The project took about two weeks to complete and one more week for inspection, testing and commissioning.

Dykmans Residence - Rancho Santa Fe, California

Mr. Dykmans approached us here at Cosmic Solar in 2015 with one big problem -- a $3,500 monthly electric bill. Quite a large monthly burden for just two people on the property! Despite the house actually being on the market to be sold, he and his wife still wanted to have solar installed because they knew the sale of the home could take some time and they also knew it would increase the value of the home considerably.

This project required a lot of roofing work, which included removing countless double-stacked clay tiles and re-roofing underneath with shingles, then "picture framing" around the solar to cause the appearance that the panels are "floating" on the tile. When Cosmic installed this system in 2015, we utilized 168 SunPower E20 327 watt modules with SMA inverters. The cost of the system was about $98,000 after government incentives and with new SDGE rates, the Dykmans are saving over $4,000 a month on their electric bill -- which amounts to about a two to three year payback on the system. Not bad!
